Principal’s Update June 20

JUNIOR ROCKERS TERM 2 CONCERT

Congratulations to all of our performers at last week’s term 2 Junior Rockers after school concert. It was really lovely to see so many of our students who have been learning an instrument taking up the opportunity to perform in front of a live audience.

Thank you to our families who came along to support and I know this meant a lot to all of our performers. We look forward to organising a similar performance during the second half of the year. We have some photos of the concert below.

BIGS KIDS CARNIVAL – PARENT/CARER COMMUNITY EVENING

Friday the 23rd of August is the date for our parent/carer community evening full of fun carnival themed games. We will have more information closer to the time. We desperately need community support with donations, so please reach out to Katie Willy if you can support in anyway.

YEAR 3/4 CAMP – CAMPASPE DOWNS 26-28 JUNE

We are getting very excited for our upcoming Year 3/4 camp at the end of Term. In the coming weeks, students in Year 3/4 will start some in class learning tasks, to help build some familiarity with the camp, its activities and facilities. This will be a fun filled experience for all and I am looking forward to attending camp with our students.

Please ensure payments are completed by June 14 and to return the completed medical form. Under DET requirements, all students attending camp must complete the Medical Form, even if your child does not require any medication and/or has any existing medical conditions.

Please reach and contact the school if you are experiencing any difficulties with payments.

NAIDOC WEEK

National NAIDOC Week 2024 celebrations will be held from July 7 – July 14, during the final week of the school holidays. We will therefore hold our own NAIDOC celebrations the first week back of term 3. Ms Leanne Anstee has been completing Indigenous inspired pieces of art with our students, and we are aiming to create our own Indigenous Art gallery for students and families to enjoy on the first Friday of term 3 (Friday the 19th of July). More details to come out early next term.

STAFF UPDATE

Ms Stephanie Pomponio will be taking Leave from the start of term 3 to finally complete overseas travels that were interrupted and have been on hold since COVID lockdowns. This is an exciting opportunity for Stephanie and her partner. We wish her safe travels and look forward to her return in 2025. Ms Leanne Anstee will be in 23P for the remainder of the year. Ms Anstee has been teaching at Belle Vue Primary School for a long time and has developed a strong connection with the students of 23P in her previous role as the art teacher. We also welcome Ms Amy Simula who will be our art teacher for the remainder of 2025 starting from term 3. Amy is an experienced teacher who will bring lots of knowledge and passion into our art program and will provide exciting opportunities in the arts program for our students. She is very excited to join the belle Bue community and she looks forward to contributing to our school and art program.

REPORTS

Our Mind Year reports will be accessible via COMPASS from 4.00pm Monday the 24th of June. Both staff and students have been working tirelessly on these comprehensive and informative reports. These reports will be provided you with an indication of what has been taught across Semester 1 and also provide an update on your child’s progress and achievements across the Victorian Curriculum.

3 WAY CONFERENCES

We value student voice at Belle Vue, and we believe it is important students are provided opportunities to reflect on and share their learning.  These will form the basis of the 3 Way Conference discussions which will take place on Wednesday 31st July. 3-Way conferences will be in person. These conferences are an opportunity for our students to reflect on and celebrate their learning with you. This is also an opportunity for all 3 stake holders (student, parents/carers, and teacher) to work together in creating learning goals for the remainder of the year.  Information about booking a time will be sent home in Term 3. Students are not required at school on this day.

END OF TERM

A quick reminder Term 2 will end of Friday the 28th of June at 2.30pm. Their Care will commence from the end of the school day for families who require supervision of their children with the slightly earlier finish.
