Principal’s Update 16 November

Dear Belle Vue Families,

2024 TRANSITION

The transition to a new class represents a major change event in children’s lives, so we’re preparing them through a range of different transition activities across this term. This supports our children in a way that builds confidence, resilience, and a belief that they can handle change events like this when they occur.

There will be three transition dates that will support students transition into their new year level for 2024. Students will find out their 2024 teacher and class on the last transition on Thursday the December the 14th.

Friday Dec 1

Friday Dec 8

Thursday Dec 14

We aim to set up each year for success, for students and teachers.  We ensure there is a balance of personalities, academic abilities, interests, and preferences in each class.

If there is anything we need to be aware of to support a successful transition for your child, please ensure to contact me directly via email. andrew.wood@education.vic.gov.au

We will not take requests for teachers.

STAFF UPDATE 2024

A very warm welcome to Sarah Sambell who will be joining our teaching staff for 2024. Whilst classes and teachers have not been finalised yet, Sarah has popped in this week and met our staff and some of the students at Belle Vue. Sarah will also be joining us for our transition days later this term. She is very excited to join the Belle Vue family and we are equally excited to have her join our community. She has provided a little bit more information about herself below.

“Hi Belle Vue,

My name is Sarah Sambell and I’m excited to be joining the team next year as a classroom teacher. I have been a classroom teacher for over 10 years. Personally, I am a huge hobbyist. I love art, sewing, gardening, embroidery, reading, camping and most recently collage. I believe in exploring personal passions and interests. Though my interests are creative, my passion in the classroom is mathematics. Solving problems takes creative thinking and I hope to inspire that in my students. I look forward to meeting all the students and parents and getting to know your passions too.”

CHANGES TO BULLEEN ROAD

As part of the Northeast Link Works all lanes will be closed on Bulleen Road between Thompsons and Manningham Roads from 8pm, Friday 24 November to 7pm, Tuesday 5 December 2023.

SCHOOL PROMOTIONAL VIDEO

A reminder to all families that Shon Productions will be onsite on Thursday the 23rd of November to create video content to showcase our school and to promote Belle Vue Primary School. This film content will showcase the benefits of our school through a mix of interview grabs and beautiful shots of the school ‘in action.’ Your child may be asked to say a few short lines briefly to the camera, but may also just be their voice only, over selected shots of our grounds and facilities.

Shon Productions will create a film that is unique to Belle Vue, promote what we value, and communicate what makes our school the special place it is. The goal is to deliver content that gives future parents/carers confidence that our school is the perfect choice for their child. The completed video will be published on our school website.

Belle Vue Primary School values the privacy of every person very seriously and we will comply with the Privacy and Data protection Act 2014. We recognise that Photographs, video and recordings of a person that may be capable of identifying the person may constitute a collection of ‘personal information’ under Victorian privacy law.

Belle Vue Primary School understands that parents and carers have the right to withhold permission for our school to use photographs, video or recordings of their child. Please read through the Opt Our Notice sent via COMPASS on November 3rd for further information and what to do if you do not want images of your child to be collected and used by Shon Productions for the purpose of creating a promotional video.

COLOUR FUN RUN – PRIZES

Once again, thank you to everyone for all of your time and effort supporting our first colour fun run this term, with valuable funds raised to support our school. I am very excited to share with you all that prizes have arrived and I will be working with our Junior School Council to distribute the prizes in the coming days and to hear from our students about how they want some of the money spent to improve our school.

REMEMBERANCE DAY 2023

Saturday 11 November 2023 was Remembrance Day, a day for us all to remember those who have served and those who have died in all wars and peacekeeping operations. Last Friday, our school captains Harry and Sophie led our Remembrance Day assembly, where we as a school, paused for a minute’s silence to remember people’s service and sacrifice.
